Merchandising Vice President Alix Gonsoulin discusses Fall 2019 trends featured in Beyond The Glass!
Hi, I'm Alix Gonsoulin, the VP of Merchandising here at Stuller, and I want to talk to you about trends today.
At Stuller, we have associates across the business that spend a lot of time following what trends are evolving in the market place. Looking at everything from technology to home décor, to art, there are many industries we follow to help predict upcoming trends. From there, we handpick what we see as the strongest trends to follow into our product offering. We want to be sure that you, our customers, are prepared to service your customers with the most up to date jewelry trends. So let me talk you through a few of those trends.
Opalescent stones have been popping up all over the market. Playing with the variety of opals or with moonstones, there are many creative ways to make these stones stand out. We love how they pop in rose gold or set with other colored stones. This is a great trend that has been popular with millennials.
The fan silhouette was a very popular silhouette that was often seen in the Art Deco motifs. While Art Deco has been an important trend in the past 3 years, we have seen it evolve with an emphasis on this versatile fan shape. Whether playing into the organic or geometric aspect, we are seeing this silhouette everywhere.
While spiritual jewelry has always been popular within the jewelry industry, we are really seeing this category evolve in the past few years. These pieces might be tied to a specific religion or maybe simply evoke a sense of inner tranquility for the person wearing them. We are loving the variety of designs that are used to celebrate spirituality.
The celestial trend has been a popular trend we have seen across many industries for the past few years. Whether a very literal interpretation or something more abstract, we have seen these trends continue to grow in popularity.
When the asymmetry trend emerged in the marketplace, it was a very fresh trend that might make some people feel a little off balance. But we have seen over time this trend really evolve and take over. People are drawn to this unique look that helps each person really showcase their individuality with these unexpected designs.
