If you're selling loose diamonds and gemstones in your store, you probably run into the issue of a customer not being able to see what you see with a loupe. Well Stuller has a new product called the GemCam. What this device would do is allow you to use your smartphone to take images and 360 degree viewing of a diamond. You can shoot video, the customer can sit there with you, see all the clarity characteristics of the stones, and hopefully make a sale. I'll show you how to use the device.
First of all you get your GemCam body which has your different rotation buttons, your different lights that you can choose. You have a USB and a charging port. To the side you'll see the cavity where the GemCam holder will go into here. We'll talk about that a little later. On top is where your smartphone will sit where you actually shoot videos or pictures. And on the back is where the slots where your platform will slide into the unit.
So the holder here, if you press this button, opens. Your stone will actually fit into that area. This will slide into the GemCam and then once you hit the rotation button, this will actually roll 360 degrees. So now I'm gonna show you how it all goes together. This is your platform that your smartphone will sit on. So you will slide that in there, you will turn the lights on, and I have a beautiful two carat stone here that we'll open. So you take your device and you want this flat section upside down so that you can actually pick up the stone. So open your jaws by pressing the button, grab your stone, there's your stone, and then you will slide the apparatus into the unit.
So I've downloaded the GemCam app. As you can tell there's photo, 360 video, diamond library, all the different functions of the app. This is a non-skid pad also here so you don't have to worry about your smartphone sliding off. Take your camera and line it up on the hole and I'm gonna go to photo and you'll see there's some crosshairs. Line up the crosshairs in the middle of the stone and now you're ready to use the device.
The buttons here allow you to adjust the bottom lighting, the overhead lighting, your manual rotation, and the 360 degree rotation. So now I'm going to show you another cool function which is zooming in and using the rotation. So now I'm zoomed in, hit the button in the back and it rotates 360 degrees. So now we're going to take an image. Press your camera button here. As you can tell you can crop your image if you'd like, there's all these different functions where you can turn it. Go back here you can choose the size you'd like or keep it original. And then once you're done press done, and now you can use your social media, you can text, email, however you'd like to share this image.
