Not sure where to begin in selecting an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner? Let us help!
More and more jewelry businesses are turning to ultrasonic cleaners to remove unwanted residue from equipment, jewelry items, watch pieces, gemstones, and more. Thanks to the advances in technology and many benefits over other cleaning methods, the efficiency of these machines has become more popular.
These powerful machines were designed for the unique needs of many industries, but especially the jewelry trade. They use ultrasonic wavelengths to clean the more delicate facets of jewelry while having enough power to remove grime, oils, rouge, and other compounds found in a jewelry shop. Because of the number of brands, models, sizes, and other essential factors to consider, it’s important to deduce which machine will work best for you and your business.
At Stuller, we utilize these machines on an everyday basis in many departments to ensure that our products always leave clean and shining. The Best Built brand of ultrasonic cleaners has a suite of products that we even use throughout our building. Let’s break down the critical factors to consider when choosing which Best Built ultrasonic is most suitable for your business’ needs.
Which Best Built Ultrasonic Is Right for You?
Stuller has quite a few ultrasonic cleaners available for you to choose from. Stuller’s brand of choice to use in our stone setting department, as well as the brand that many of our Tool Tech Team gravitates towards, are the Best Built Ultrasonics.
Best Built ultrasonic cleaners are made in the USA and each one comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. This benefit makes getting replacement parts easy and efficient. Many of our customers have given us positive feedback after purchasing these machines. Check out what great things they have to say!
Top Three Questions to Consider Before Buying
If customers need more info, our Tools Tech Team is on standby to help. Here are three questions they answer to aid in a buying decision.
01How big is your bench space?
Because these machines come in five different tank sizes, it’s important to determine how much space you have available and how many bench jewelers will be using it. If a business wants an ultrasonic cleaner that they can take with them to clean on the go, only use for minor cleaning, and wants something easy to transport, a Best Built Mini or Best Built 2 Quart would probably be the best fit for them. These two models have smaller water tanks and are not as heavy, but they still get the job done.
If a customer has a shop where multiple bench jewelers are using the machine, they will most likely need more space for the many jobs going on at once. The larger Best Built Ultrasonics like the 3.5, 6, and 10-quart models would be a better fit because they can fit more products in the basket. That way, there is more space for multiple pieces to be cleaned, and the larger water tank allows for longer cleaning sessions. However, these machines are much heavier and cannot be moved as easily.
02How long do you like to run your ultrasonics?
Depending on how long you prefer to use your ultrasonic cleaners, this can decide which model you should purchase. For instance, the Best Built Mini can only be run for one to five minutes at a time. This time frame should be long enough for jewelers who want to clean one or two items at a time that aren't particularly dirty. As you go up in tank size, the amount of time they can clean for will also go up, ranging in five to 40-minute increments.
Time is an essential factor to consider that also plays a part in your jewelry business's variety of jobs. Suppose you are continuously cleaning items for repairs or jewelry that comes to your shop and hasn't been cleaned in quite a long time, so on and so forth. In that case, you might want to consider getting a model that your bench jewelers can run for more extended periods of time. The larger units like the 6 and 10 quarts feature various temperature controls that also allow you to adjust how hot you want the water to be. This feature is crucial if you are a business working on precious gemstones and metals, especially because many elements may become sensitive to higher temperatures.
03What is your price range?
Another important factor to consider when purchasing an ultrasonic is price point. These machines can quickly go up in price as you go up in tank size. They can also be considered investment pieces for your business. But you have to assess the amount of time you will save when you integrate one of these units into your everyday work life. Ultrasonics are able to work more quickly and efficiently than hand-cleaning or by using other washing devices. When used properly, these machines speed up the process and produce a much better product than those cleaned with heavy solvents and degreasers.
