WHO:

Recent studies show that approximately 71% of consumers think green when making a purchase. And most Millennials will agree that sustainability is a top priority. This means that having a stance on the environment is important to your business. At Stuller, we pledge daily to conduct any and all operations in the most environmentally and socially manner possible. And we'll guarantee that in black and white.

“I do look into their [vendors] environmental impact and tend to purchase first from companies that are environmentally friendly. I really like the fact that Stuller uses recycled gold, and my clients love that part as well. I also look into their social/community impact; what they do to give back is important.” – Matt Fehring, Tech Jewelers in West Bend, WI

WHAT:

Being “green” can mean different things to different people. But regardless of your definition, it’s important to a lot of people. (See “Who”) It simply means that you’re doing what you can to protect basic human rights and our home planet.

In addition to using SCS-Certified 100% recycled metals in all of our operations, Stuller also has a comprehensive environmental policy on water, waste, and energy management.

WHY:

It’s a topic of discussion at every industry event, on social media, even in your store. “Environmentally-friendly”, “green”, “blood diamonds” – these are words we see every day.

“Some customers have asked about "blood diamonds" and some have said they don't want a diamond because of the unfair treatment of the laborers or controversy. I am starting to get some younger folks and they are usually the ones that ask, so I feel pretty confident that the industry is headed that direction.” – Vickie Buxton, Bob’s Coins & Jewelry in Summerfield, FL

“The biggest question I get is asking if the diamonds I sell are ethically sourced. I also sell rough diamonds so this is huge for me. I also find that millennial and people my age (around 24) are usually the first to ask that question, and it's usually one of the first things they want to know. I don't get many questions about whether or not their items are environmentally friendly, but I bring it up for most sales

talks and once I do, clients are very happy to know that their piece is.”

HOW:

Start by asking questions – are my vendors socially responsible? What can I do to help? Are there ways to partner with others in the community on these efforts?
