Tips for Exchanging Watch Batteries
1. While inserting a new battery, use plastic, ceramic-tipped, or wooden tweezers only. Do not use metal tweezers or similar metallic tools because the batteries will get a short circuit and could be damaged. We recommend Renata Premium Watch Battery Tweezers which are made of plastic and have rubber tip covers.
2. Make sure the battery contacts are not short-circuited by bending. A battery should not be placed in the same container as the housing base or the screws otherwise the battery may be short-circuited and damaged.
3. Remove a discharged battery immediately from the watch. A dead battery kept for a long period of time in a watch will leak and could damage the movement.
Temperature and Storage Tips
1. Storage of batteries must be between 60° and 100° Fahrenheit for stability.
- More than 100°F — shelf-life is reduced dramatically.
- 75° – 86°F — perfect for optimal shelf-life.
2. Do not keep batteries in a refrigerator due to high humidity and the danger of condensation.
3. If batteries get wet, their insulation resistance decreases, self-discharge occurs, and corrosion will be generated.
