Earth Day is all about Mother Earth. Let's face it. We owe her a lot. From the ground we live on, the water we drink, and the food we grow, to the mountains, beaches, forests, and lakes, we love. Each year, Earth Day taps us on the shoulder, reminding us to treat the environment with respect.
Earth Day also reminds us of our social responsibilities we share with those who mine and make our product in our source countries. Our Diamond & Gemstone buyers and product managers spend a lot of time traveling to our global partners to see that our product is produced ethically.
Good For The Environment and Good For Business
The jewelry industry has taken this seriously because the earth yields our precious metals, diamonds, and gemstones. Where would any of us be without these? It’s also true that many of us have a personal commitment to environmental protection, and increasingly our customers ask about responsible sourcing, so it's good for business.
Environmental and Social Responsibility
Stuller embraces all of these, and we’re committed to an ongoing environmental consciousness and fair trade awareness. We conduct all operations in the most socially responsible manner possible. From our SCS certified 100% recycled metals to our ethically sourced diamonds and gemstones , we support ethical suppliers and every facet of fair trade jewelry. It’s simple. By doing this, we believe we can make a difference in our source communities and for you and your customers.
Responsible Jewellery Council - RJC
We’re proud of our SCS Global Services Certification for 100% recycled metals. And we feel honored to be a member of RJC, the world’s leading standard-setting organization and the only independently verified sustainability standard for the jewelry and watch industry. As a non-profit, they dedicate themselves to “a sustainable legacy for future generations.”
Joining this select group requires a lengthy, rigorous preparation to align with their Code of Practices. A third-party audit follows, scrutinizing every aspect of our business for responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices. Headquartered in London, U.K., RJC continually gains new information, updates their Code of Practices, and all members must keep pace. In other words, we will continue to improve and grow in all our areas of sustainability.
Inside Stuller
Most people don’t know this, but Stuller has an intensive sustainability program involving all aspects of our operations. We practice “lean manufacturing,” a systematic approach to identifying and eliminating waste through continuous improvement. This encompasses reducing our energy and water consumption, as well as reducing, reusing, recycling or properly disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. We seek to lessen our greenhouse gas emissions and conserve natural resources. Our energy and water conservation efforts are so extensive, they require the constant attention of our Engineering staff and training associates in each department.
